Welcome to our Goat Page!
Visitors to the ranch love meeting the goats. Our goats are fun and friendly creatures who give sweet
delicious milk! Their milk helps feed orphan animals, as well as provide milk for the house and
cheesemaking and soapmaking. Our herd has been a joy. We have Registered Purebred and American
Nubians, as well as Recorded grade Saanans. We love our goats!
We are proud to be part of the State of Minnesota Board of Animal Health Scrapies
Identification Program and all our goats are tattooed with our herd number. We do not ear
tag!
For the next few years, we will be retaining almost all our doe kids to build our herd. We'll be
offering wethers and bucks for sale. Please email to get on our waiting list, or check out our
sale page.
Mable is a 1998 born grade Saanen
doe. She has been at the ranch since
she was a yearling. Mable has a
beautiful udder and has given us a gallon
a day for years. Mable loves babies and
would love to steal every kid on the
farm if we let her! Mable shows why
we don't believe in eartags- goats stick
their heads where they shouldn't and
will rip out tags!
Proud Members of-
Hope is a 2006 purebred Nubian doe. She is
out of Magic Dreams Isis, by Magic Dreams
King Arthur, both of which are full Goldthwaite
breeding. The herd she came from did not take
proper care of their goats and when she was
born, her legs were frozen from the hocks down.
She wasn't doing well in a large herd and came to
our ranch to get TLC. Hope has made a huge
improvement and her feet are nearly normal now
after many months of corrective trimming.
Hope's genetics are nearly pure Goldthwaite lines
and she is living up to her genetic potential filling
the milk pail to the brim!
Brandywine is an aged purebred Nubian
doe. We are hoping to get a breeding from
her to continue her bloodlines and then she'll
be retired. Brandywine has a lovely
personality!
Wild Card is a recorded grade
Nubian doe. She is most likely
purebred but her papers were lost.
Wild Card was a nervous doe, but
with kind and gentle handling has
settled down in our herd very easily.
Mackenzie is a daughter of Mable
and a grade Nubian buck, making her
half Saanan and half Nubian. She was
a surprise kid born on August 30th
2008. Its nearly unheard of for a
Swiss doe to kid out of season, so we
consider little Mackenzie a true gift
from God. We're hoping that
Mackenzie carries on her mother's
unstoppable milk production and lovely
temperament!

We hope to build our herd up to 15 good, registered does by 2010, and start participating in DHIR
and Linear Appraisal through the ADGA. Our goats have tested free of Johne's, CA and CAE.
We feed heat treated colostrum and milk replacer to ensure our kids stay healthy.
We work hard with our goats to keep them in tip top shape, using supplements and herbal remedies
when needed. Our goats are dewormed 4 times yearly on the equinoxes and solstices. We do not
show our goats at this time, but as our herd improves in quality we are looking forward to
participating in ADGA sanctioned shows and fairs.
Several goat fanciers in the Northern area are working on starting a
charter goat club- if you are a goat producer or owner of any kind-
dairy, meat, pygmy or pets- please contact us for information!
Saanens and Saanen Crosses
Saanen goats are a white or cream-colored breed of goat, named for the Saanen valley in
Switzerland. Saanens are the largest of the goat dairy breeds. Does typically weigh 150 lb or more,
with bucks weighing over 200 lb. The Saanen breed also produces the most milk (as a breed- there
will be good and poor individuals in any breed) and tends to have a lower butterfat content, about
2.5%-3%. The Saanen temperament is as a rule, calm and mild mannered; breeders have been know
to refer to them as living marshmallows. Saanen goats are easier for children to handle and are
popular in the showmanship classes due to their calm nature. With solid white coats and pink skin
these extremely mild tempered goats are heavy milkers.
Pearl is a yearling Saanen doe that we
just purchased September of 2009. She
had a very neglectful owner, but under
her roughness you can see she has
beautiful bone structure. We are eager
to see her kids!
Angus- 2009 born buckling. He'll be a
father goat (hopefully!) in 2010. He has
a lot of growing to do, but so far he is
developing nicely and is turning out well.
Nubians
The breed was developed in Great Britain of native milking stock and goats from the Middle East and North
Africa. Its distinguishing characteristics include large, pendulous ears and a "Roman" nose. Due to their
Middle-Eastern heritage, Anglo-Nubians can live in very hot climates and have a longer breeding season
than other dairy goats. Considered a dairy or dual-purpose breed, Anglo-Nubians are known for the high
butterfat content of their milk, although on average, the breed produces less volume of milk than other
dairy breeds.
Anglo-Nubians are large, with does weighing at least 135 lb. and 175 lb for bucks. The minimum height of
the breed, measured at the withers, is 30 inches for does and 35 inches for bucks

Rogue is a 2006 Recorded Grade
Nubian doe. She is a smaller build,
so we are hoping that the buck we
have chosen this year will add some
stature to her kids. Rogue is a lovely
girl and loves to be milked! 9. She is
a good mother and raised a single
buckling in 2008. She was dry in
2009. Rogue is a very easy keeper.
Isis is a 5 yr old Registered
purebred Nubian doe. Isis is a
huge doe, and we are very
blessed to have her in our
family. We can't wait to see her
kids in 2010!
Shade is a 5 year old Registered
purebred Nubian doe. We are
very blessed to have her, and
can't wait to see her beautiful
babies in 2010!
Our buck for 2009.... Mr. Chippy!
Mr. Chippy is an Alpine/Nubian cross buck that we will be using on our does this season. Mr
Chippy has some very good attributes, even though he is a crossbred buck we feel that his strengths
are worth crossbreeding our does.
Chippy will be going to our friend Samantha's house to breed a few does in December. He
will then be for sale on January 1st 2010 for 75$.
Spotty is our 2009 born purebred
Nubian kid. He'll be used on our
Nubian does next year. In the meantime,
his job is to grow!
