Kennel Korner By Pam Abels This last weekend really proved to be wonderful for the rescue pets at WhipStaff Ranch and Rescue. Twiggy found a great home with a couple in the country. She will be going on vacations and living the high life, something she so deserved. A kindly daughter adopted Katie for her father as a new best friend. She will be adored for the rest of her life. Little Lottie the kitten went to a new home which sports another kitten her same age…I can imagine the chaos in that house when those two start playing! Her new Mom fell in love with her right away so I think she will be spoiled a lot. Kacie has a wonderful family with little children to play with. He was puzzled when the father asked the little girl if she had any questions (for us) and she whispered to Kacie, “do you want to come home with us? Kacie had a home of his own. We would like to thank all those that called and encourage you to keep watching this article for future “throw aways that need your love and help. You never know how bright the diamond will shine under the abuse and neglect they wear. WhipStaff Ranch and Rescue works independently on our own property with our own funds. We offer assistance to city pounds; select humane societies and individuals in the area. The Buy Line so graciously prints Kennel Korner to help our efforts. Make sure you keep our number, web address and email address to get hold of us. We also take in other animals besides cats and dogs; we have taken in rabbits, ferrets, guinea pigs, horses, ducks and even a few chickens or two. Like we always say, you never know what is going to show up around here! We are looking for a good home for Nigel, a 10 month old Whippet mix. He came to our ranch with 4 others. Nigel and his sisters were found dumped in the woods during the cold March weather. They were very starved and cold. We were told that a lady did not want them anymore so they were dumped in the woods to fend for themselves. We were told there were 7 to begin with but we only received 5. We do not know where the others are or if they are alive. We have had these Whippets since April. A few had wounds that needed tending, one had a nasty abscess, and they were given their parvo/distemper shots and wormed. With good food and plenty of good clean water, they developed into really nice dogs. Nigel is ready to cuddle up with just the right people. Do you have a spot on the couch for him? Please do your research before getting a specific breed of dog, some are suitable as housedogs, and some are not. You should be careful in your choice. If children are involved, special care should be taken to insure their safety. Some pets might appear to be perfect but might not be suitable for your family lifestyle, an example would be to keep a Husky in a small apartment or expect a Chihuahua to live outside in the cold. When adopting a pet, remember you are promising them a home for life. Nigel now lives at WhipStaff Ranch and Rescue, a family owned and operated rescue for animals of all types. We see to the medical, physical and mental attention of all animals in our care. WhipStaff Ranch has been in existence for 15 years and will continue until there is no need for such a safe haven for animals that have been neglected, abused or abandoned. We find new homes for those that have been thrown away animals. Please call us at 218-467-3309 or email us at Celtic@Paulbunyan.net. Pictures of our rescue animals can be seen at our web page, WWW.Geocities.com/WhipStaff_ranch_and_rescue. You just might find your best friend here!
Kennel Korner by Pam Abels Here at WhipStaff ranch we have several pets needing homes. Arlo is a shepherd/lab mix, about 8 months old. He comes from the Star of the North Humane Society. Arlo was born at the shelter and has been very patient for the right person to come pick him up. He is wonderful with kids, loves to swim, and had all his shots including his rabies. Arlo has longer black hair with a patch of white on his chest. Kobi is about 3-4 years old, tall and sleek. Kobi is also from the Star of the North facility. He has been in their care since he was a small puppy. He is very good with kids, very easy going with other dogs. He loves car rides and is housebroken. Kobi has had all his shots, worming and rabies. He is black with brown patches. Kobi would be happy to guard your home and family for an exchange of love, a soft couch and arms around his neck. Everyone has their guess what Kobi is mixed with, maybe lab, shepherd, Irish wolf hound, great Dane…Come see him and take a guess, then take him home. He truly is a gem. Both Arlo and Kobi are neutered males. Twiggy had to come back to our rescue through no fault of her own. She hopes to find a permanent home where she can show you all the love she holds in her heart. She has been in our house since her return and is very well mannered. She never makes a mistake in the house; she is quiet and gets along with other dogs and cats. She is still somewhat shy; I think she is so afraid to make a mistake. Remember, Twiggy is the little soul that was born, survived and gave birth in a barn until she was rescued along with her litter of pups. Please call for Twiggy and make her dreams come true. Something to ponder: “He is your friend, your defender, your partner, your dog. You are his life, his love, his leader. He will be yours, faithful and true to the last beat of his heart. You owe it to him to be worthy of such devotion. We also have 6 kittens, about 6-7 weeks old that are looking for someone special to love and cuddle and maybe wrestle with. They are all different colors with unique personalities that make them irresistible! We have three boys and three girls. These kittens were hand raised by a kindly man after the mother was run over by a car. They were bottle fed until they could eat kitten food. He did not loose one! They are healthy, happy and full of spunk…come look into their big kitty eyes and tell them you don’t have room for them in your heart! I dare you! We will be receiving several older kittens, about 10-12 weeks old by the time this article comes out. Perhaps you would like an older kitten. I was told they are all different colors including calicos! These older kittens have been wormed and had their kitten shots. If you happen to have extra collars around the house, we sure would put them to good use here. Any unused kennel material would also be appreciated, such as panels, chain link fence etc. WhipStaff Ranch and Rescue is a family owned and operated rescue for animals of all types. Cesar
Kennel Korner By Pam Abels WhipStaff Ranch and Rescue would like to thank all those that have taken into their homes all the dogs and cats we have had at our place. It is always a thrill for us to share our love of these “throw-aways with others that continue with their well being on a permanent basis. Your gifts of love, donations and support have meant so much to the animals finding refuge here. We have discovered that we have a special needs kitten. Cesar came to us from a foster home with his littermates. He is from a batch of kittens that had to be bottle-fed because their mother had been killed by a car when they were only 3 weeks old. Cesar’s brothers and sisters are friendly and wanting a home but Cesar sits quietly in the cat house trying to be ignored by anyone that comes near to play. It has been noticed that he is extremely sensitive to loud noises or fast movements. He loves to sit on your lap and be petted and will even fall asleep in a tiny ball purring but if a loud noise is heard, he becomes so scared he tries to hide. Perhaps you have a perfect home for him where he will have a calm, stress less life. Cesar is a very pretty gold and white kitten, about 11 weeks old. He has had his first kitten shots and worming. There are just 3 girls left waiting for someone to take them home. Ginger is a black and white kitten, about 10 months old. She has been spayed, current on all her shots including rabies. She was taken away from her mother when she was only 4 weeks old, kept in an abandoned apartment with no food and water. When found, she was living in filth, feces covering the floor. She was malnourished, dehydrated and near death. She was rescued and given goats milk until she was able to eat rabbit meat. As she got older, she was taken to a vet by a caring person, spayed and given her shots. She was taught to use a litter box and likes to have it neat and orderly. Ginger enjoys playing outside but likes to curl up on a soft pillow at night. Ginger is more social than she started out but still acts the bully around some dogs and cats. She is still in her “I have to take care of myself “ mode but is getting much better. If you have a soft spot for independent kittens, call and ask to see Ginger. Arlo is still waiting for someone to come and sweep him away to a home of his own. He is 8 months old, a lab mix that has been neutered and is current on all his shots. He has longer curly black hair with patches of white. Arlo is such a fun, gentle guy that it is hard to think he still wishes for a family that will love him and he can love in return. Arlo truly is the perfect dog to have for your family. I believe that if Arlo were taken into your home, he would spoil you for any future dogs you may have. He is certainly a find! Arlo loves to swim, play fetch and gives loads of big sloppy kisses. He is also housebroken, and great in the house.
